Dunson - Count On It
“Count on It” represents the unapologetic confidence you have when you have put your work in. I love how it incorporates a childhood sample that so many of us are familiar with. That helped me keep it ambitious but not overly aggressive! The underground success of Creative Destruction 2 opened up some opportunities for me. One of those opportunities was to work with Grammy-Nominated production crew, Phatboiz. After a few sessions together, they saw my passion and started to hear my increased lyrical development. That led them to cook up this track for me. I heard it and came up with the concept and verses immediately! We laid it down one night in NYC and the energy and vibe was incredible so we knew this would be the first to release off the upcoming project entitled The Investment.
Vaughn Anthony - Curiosity ft. Dunson
Be on the lookout for the first single off my upcoming project entitled “Count On It” dropping next week! The track is produced by Phatboiz as well.
Dunson - Lord Knows Freestyle
New freestyle over Drake’s “Lord Knows” off his most recent album Take Care. Be on the lookout for the first single off my upcoming project to be released in the very near future.
The Weeknd - The Morning ft. Kenton Dunson (Chi Duly Remix)
Check out the collaboration with Chi Duly as I contribute vocals over a remix of The Weeknd’s “The Morning”. Read what he had to say about the track below.
“The melodies are strong on House of Balloons. That’s what really makes these a thrill to work with. Every day songs get remixed that dont need to be. I’m a producer first, but as a DJ the need to remix these was very apparent. I’m entranced by The Weeknd but it’s just too hard to mix into sets unless you’re spinning a private slowjam orgy or something of the like (which I am available for: firstname.lastname@example.org)” - Chi Duly
Kenton Dunson - Top of the World Feat. Passion Pit
In celebration of 100,000 downloads of Creative Destruction 2 in just over a month, I wanted to release a free track for the fans before we fly to L.A. to shoot the “Firestarter” video. The internet is the proving to be the most powerful tool for upcoming artists like myself. You can really see the world and when that world is moved by your art…it’s an amazing feeling. So I based the song partially from that but also wanted to release one for those of us who are not only ambitious, but actually act on it and eventually succeed. Once you achieve your goal, don’t look back…don’t come down! That’s the whole theme of “Top of the World”. I was moved by the infectious Passion Pit track called “The Reeling” and eventually used a sample from it as the base. I chopped it up and just built from there with syncopated drum sequences, 808s, raw lyrics and vocal layers. I finished it, I took a ride to it with the windows down and it felt just how I wanted it to…so I wanted to drop it! Thank you to all the supporters for downloading, hosting and sharing Creative Destruction 2.
Kenton Dunson - Momentum (Hollidayrain Remix)
Hollidayrain put together an amazing beautiful Progressive House remix of my song “Momentum” from the first Creative Destruction LP. Check it out!
Read what he had to say about the remix below.
“After the massive success of ‘Up’, I knew that I wanted to continue working with Kenton on future tracks. So, since he put his spin on my track by adding his incredible vocals and contributing additional production, I decided to put my spin on his track. The sound that really influenced this remix was that of ‘Anjunadeep’, the progressive house sublabel of the iconic ‘Anjunabeats’ label. It is extremely chill and deep, and builds around the vocal hook from the original. I went this route with the remix as opposed to a harder style because I thought it would better suit the vocal style; and I think that I made the right decision. A good bit of my upcoming original releases will be electro-house oriented club-bangers since I’ve recently signed a deal with Dirty Fabric Digital, the label of Chicago house legend Paul Anthony, so producing a remix that forced me to stay laidback and groovy was a great change of pace. You can also expect me to continue working with Mr. Dunson in the future!” - Hollidayrain
Kenton Dunson - NFL Flow
As we close in on 30,000 downloads of my latest album Creative Destruction 2, I wanted to release some ear candy for the supporters. In hopes that the NFL lockout comes to a close next week, I pulled a beat out from my archives that I made back in college and just ripped a verse over it. Bump it over the weekend…we want football.
Kenton Dunson - Creative Destruction 2 (Album)
Creative Destruction 2 is about more than Kenton Dunson. It’s about life, ambition, heartbreak and most importantly, passion. When I came up with the Creative Destruction concept for the first album, I didn’t think it would turn into a series. But as a developing artist in a saturated music environment, I know it’s important to display what you have as soon as it’s ready. This time around, the term Creative Destruction meant replacing my old creative approach as an artist to build more tangible songs that touched a wider base of listeners while remaining original. I believe I struck a solid balance with Creative Destruction 2. I kept the album short and relevant, there’s no fluff on this project. It’s all self-produced and I was able to include two great features to round out the album. This is my best work to date and the momentum is amazing.
